Project Spotlight
Produced by Scott Seibold, Not Just A Goof uncovers the untold story of A Goofy Movie - a Disney film that struggled upon release but later gained a passionate following. Through key interviews and rare archival footage, the documentary explores the challenges faced by its young creative team, the studio dynamics that shaped it, and its unexpected resurgence as a cult classic. Directed by Christopher Ninness and Eric Kimelton, and executive produced by Don Hahn (The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast), this retrospective sheds light on Disney Animation’s evolution and the film’s lasting legacy.
Upon release, Not Just A Goof was screened at D23, Walt Disney Animation Studios, and the Walt Disney Family Museum. It went on to become a cultural flashpoint embraced by fans and praised by critics. It climbed to #3 on Disney+, and maintains a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
